If you can, may I request a OU team that includes Mega Charizard X and Alakazam? This is for PO/Showdown. Thanks :o

RE: Flaming Flannery's Build a Team Thread!
Could I get a fairly balanced offensive team with Mega Absol in it? I'd like for it to be Wi-Fi please.

Also, I do NOT have access to any 5G or prior tutors, minus an ES Dragonite I got in a trade.

I have the following legendaries as well:

Articuno
Zapdos
Moltres
Mewtwo (one X, one Y)
Mew
Lugia (no Multiscale though)
Rayquaza
Latios
Latias
Palkia
Heatran
Xerneas
Yveltal
Zygarde
Diancie

Credit goes to Mudkip Ninja for the avatar. I'll put a signature here at some point...

RE: Flaming Flannery's Build a Team Thread!
Mizugorou, here's what I got.

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 208 Atk / 88 Def / 212 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aerial Ace
- Roost
- Stone Edge/Rock Slide
- Earthquake

This set is tailored to counter BirdSpam/Mega Pinsir. Rock Slide easily KOs the birds, but Stone Edge is more powerful when neutral, Aerial Ace has decent power thanks to Tough Claws and works well against Fighting types, Earthquake is good coverage and Roost keeps you healthy

Trevenant @ Lum Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Rest
- Leech Seed
- Will-O-Wisp
- Horn Leech

Pretty standard Harvest Rest Trevenant. Status absorbing like nobody's business. Chesto could be run for more consistency in getting out of Rest, but then Trevenant gets more pressure put on it from actually being affected by status until it uses Rest.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Standard Rotom-W, nothing to see here.

Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Spikes
- Foul Play
- Light Screen/Reflect

This one is up to you which screen you want to use. Light Screen helps Klefki, Rotom-W and Aerodactyl more than Reflect would, Reflect helps Trevenant and Tyranitar more than Light Screen would, and both help Excadrill evenly.

Tyranitar @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Crunch/Pursuit
- Ice Beam/Fire Blast
- Stone Edge/Rock Slide

Here you have a Stealth Rock setter and general utility special wall. Pursuit can be used over Crunch if you want a better answer to Latias and Latios, Ice Beam and Fire Blast depends on if you want to hit ground types or steel types, and Stone Edge vs Rock Slide is power vs accuracy, basically.

Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

Standard Sand Rush cleaner Excadrill. Rapid Spin because Aerodactyl doesn't like rocks, rest is standard.

Kirby Master, enjoy the CharY team

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

Standard CharY is standard.

Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind
- Scald/Hidden Power Flying/Hidden Power Electric

Standard Keldeo is Standard. Icy Wind for the Latis, Scald for when you don't want to rely on Hydro Miss, Hidden Power Flying 2HKOs Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss, while Hidden Power Electric OHKOs non-Mega Gyarados.

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Crunch

Scarf Tyranitar is a really good revenge killer, pursuit trapper and answer to Flying types in general.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Healing Wish/Roost

I chose Latias for Healing Wish, and gave it leftovers since it really doesn't have room for Roost/Recover, but you can use it over Healing Wish and then even use Life Orb if you want If you go for Life Orb though, I'd suggest replacing Latias with Latios. This is your Defog user, pretty simple.

Thundurus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]

A secondary BirdSpam check, and check to a lot of fast boosters in general. Pure wallbreaking set.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Stealth Rock user and generic bulky ground to take on physical threats.

Here we go DJ, Scizor and Milotic. You didn't specify Mega Scizor so I took the liberty of using another mega on your team, which also helps bluff early on.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Superpower

Pretty standard CB Scizor. Nothing much to say here.

Milotic @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Recover
- Scald
- Toxic
- Dragon Tail/Magic Coat

Magic Coat can help you bounce back Taunts and stuff, while Dragon Tail gives you some utility against set up sweepers.

Garchomp @ Lum Berry
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Fire Blast
- Swords Dance

Cleaner Garchomp, Fire Blast is for Skarmory, Lum is for when people think they can Burn as you Swords Dance then proceed to break them in half. Alternatively it will stop confusion from Outrage.

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power Fighting

Defog Latios. I like Hidden Power Fighting as it 2HKOs Tyranitar on the switch in and OHKOs Bisharp, the two most common pursuit users who try to come in to trap the Latis.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Protect
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic

Standard SpD Heatran. Nothing much to see here.

Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang

Standard DD Mega Gyarados, for all your sweeping and cleaning needs.

Doge, here's your Altaria and Jirachi team.

Altaria @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Iron Tail/Roost

I know you wanna use Altaria because of Mega Altaria, but until it's released, this is kinda the best that can be done. Iron Tail is for Fairies but Roost can be used to stay alive longer

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 224 HP / 252 Atk / 32 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Thunder Wave
- U-turn
- Ice Punch

Pretty standard annoying Paraflinch Jirachi. U-turn for momentum and Ice Punch to take out Ground types and Dragon types.

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SpA
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Extrasensory
- U-turn

U-turn for momentum, otherwise standard Greninja set.

Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin

Standard Mold Breaker Excadrill spinner set.

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic/Heal Bell

Mixed Wall Sylveon, the choice between Toxic and Heal Bell is up to you. Standard otherwise.

Ludicolo @ Assault Vest
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Fake Out

Now this is usually a VGC pokemon, but your team needed a grass type that also wasn't weak to fire and ice, and Ludicolo is the only one that fits the bill. AV Ludicolo can be surprisingly bulky, Giga Drain gives recovery, Fake Out for chip damage and revenging low health targets, and the rest is good coverage.

Roxas, here's your Charizard X team

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Tailwind
- Flare Blitz
- Outrage

"Double Dance" Charizard is something I've been wanting to experiment with, as it's a terrifying wallbreaker. Swords Dance makes it extremely difficult to stomach his attacks while Tailwind makes it very hard to revenge kill.

Alakazam @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast/Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball/Energy Ball/Hidden Power Ice/Hidden Power Fire
- Shadow Ball/Energy Ball/Hidden Power Ice/Hidden Power Fire

Honestly Alakazam has a lot of options. Dazzling Gleam is more accurate than Focus Blast for dealing with Dark types, but Focus Blast OHKOs Tyranitar, which Dazzling Gleam fails to do. As for your other two coverage moves, pick whichever ones you want to deal with specific threats. Alakazam is mostly a revenge killer here.

Azumarill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off
- Play Rough

AV Azumarill has been talked about a lot before in this thread, it's a great partner for Charizard X.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Stealth Rock
- Power Whip

Ferrothorn is also a great partner, as the three of them form a double core of Fire/Water/Grass and Dragon/Fairy/Steel. Again, he's been explained and used many times in this thread already.

Mandibuzz (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Whirlwind/Toxic
- Foul Play/Knock Off

Yup, same old Mandibuzz as earlier in the thread. If the gloves fits...

Terrakion @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- X-Scissor
- Taunt

Cleaner Terrakion. I chose Life Orb over Choice Scarf/Band to allow you to more easily clean, as well as letting you use Taunt for general disruption.

Master Latios, here's what I came up with.

Absol @ Absolite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Play Rough
- Fire Blast

Fire Blast takes care of Steel types, the rest is pretty standard.

Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt/Psyshock
- Hydro Pump

A good revenge killer and faster spinner. Pretty standard stuff honestly. Thunderbolt vs Psyshock is up to you.

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Shadow Sneak/Rest
- Pursuit
- Gyro Ball
- Toxic/Rest

This Doublade set's been talked about earlier in the thread. However, since Aegislash is technically not banned here, it can go in this slot. Aegi is definitely the better one to use in this case, but just so you're aware.

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Def / 216 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Substitute
- Taunt
- Baton Pass

This, this right here is the key. The idea is to get a Substitute up, pass it to Absol, and set up a free Swords Dance nice and easy. Gliscor + Absol + Doublade/Aegislash cover each other very well, and is the core the team was based on.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Def / 212 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
- Gyro Ball

A little different from my standard mixed spread I've been using but slightly more effective on this team.

Rotom-Heat @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Thunder Wave

Double status Rotom was talked about earlier, and Heat fits better with the team than Wash would.

Minwoo, here's what I got for Greninja

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Extrasensory
- Hidden Power Grass

My preferred Greninja set. Hidden Power Grass deals with bulky Waters. Grass Knot does as well, which would allow you to use Hidden Power Fire...except then Rotom-W kinda just laughs at you. Hidden Power Grass hits Rotom-W harder, and every other water type in the top 50 OU usage is either hit the same by both moves or hit harder by HP Grass (in the case of opposing Greninjas).

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 192 HP / 252 SpA / 64 Spe
Modest Nature
- Synthesis
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power Fire
- Earthquake

This is a bulky, offensive Mega Venusaur that deals with Ferrothorn, a big issue for Greninja. It also deals with Heatran, even with a negative attack nature.

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Atk / 212 Def
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Fire Punch

Here we have Fire Punch over Stealth Rocks and a little more Atk investment to guarantee beating some more threats. Fire Punch hits steels like Skarmory and Scizor and Ferrothorn.

Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Def / 176 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Steel Wing

I spoke about this Talonflame set earlier in the thread.

Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind
- Scald/Hidden Power Flying/Hidden Power Electric

Standard Keldeo is Standard. Icy Wind for the Latis, Scald for when you don't want to rely on Hydro Miss, Hidden Power Flying 2HKOs Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss, while Hidden Power Electric OHKOs non-Mega Gyarados.

Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Volt Switch

The team needed a steel type spinner/defogger that wasn't weak to electric...and Forretress kinda was the only option. It's not great, but it does what it does.

Can I request a team to be built for a wifi battle? I have access to 5 gen and I can get most of the legendaries.

The only fixed pokemon I want is Excadril.(And possibly an altaria if it works out that way, but it's not a fixed pokemon like Excadril!) Thank you so much for this!

Hi c: I'd like to request a team to be built for Wi-Fi battles.

The only fixed pokemon I want on my team would be a Mega Garchomp (It can be non-mega too if something else would be better mega wise with it)

Legendary access:
Celebi, Cobalion, Jirachi, Xerneas, Zygarde, Mewtwo

I don't have access to the 5gen tutors or any before that.

Thanks! This is really helpful! Grin

RE: Flaming Flannery's Build a Team Thread!
Whimsical Dragon, here's what I got for Excadrill

Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance

Standard Sand Rush Excadrill, with an Air Balloon instead of Life Orb to have a better chance against opposing Excadrills or things like Bronzong. You can also use Life Orb if you'd rather have more damage and not have to worry about what you switch into.

Tyranitar @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Pursuit
- Rock Slide
- Ice Beam

Standard SpD support Tyranitar. Stealth Rocks, Pursuit for Latis and other Psychics and Ghosts, Rock Slide for Flying types, and Ice Beam for surprise coverage.

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon

One of the biggest and most common stops to Excadrill sweeps is Skarmory, who Magnezone takes care of very nicely. Standard Scarf Magnezone.

Gengar @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball

Stall Breaker Gengar gives you much needed Fighting and Ground immunities while being a right pain for stall to deal with. It's also good at burning physical attackers to neuter them.

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast

Unaware over Magic Guard so you can beat other Clefables and put a stop to set up sweepers, but Magic Guard is still a viable option. Plus Wish passing helps the team.

Mantine @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Defog
- Scald
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Another Ground immunity, a Fighting resist, and a Water resist all rolled into one. The team was missing Defog/Rapid Spin, and Mantine was the only pokemon that can do all that. On the plus side, Mantine is highly underrated, as it's the special version of Skarmory. Currently it's EV'd physically because Water Absorb lets it take water attacks and physical defense helps you take the fighting attacks you want to switch it in on. Scald and Defog are obvious, I chose Rest + Sleep Talk since it gives you a Status absorber and Mantine doesn't have recovery otherwise. The only thing is that to get a Mantine with Defog you have to have access to Diamond, Pearl or Platinum. If you really can't get it, then a bulky Gyarados set (not Mega Gyarados though) is probably your best bet in its place. You could also use Mega Gyarados, but be very careful about when you Mega Evolve, since you'll turn the fighting resist into a weakness (and lose Intimidate).

GoldenGirl, your Garchomp team:

Garchomp @ Garchompite
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast

Standard Mega Garchomp. Rips walls in half with Sand up.

Tyranitar @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Pursuit
- Fire Blast
- Rock Slide

Same Tyranitar as above, but with Fire Blast over Ice Beam to hit steels, since you don't have Magnezone to trap and eliminate steels.

Talonflame @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn/Will-o-Wisp
- Tailwind
- Brave Bird
- Roost

Support Talonflame, unfortunately I couldn't find space for Will-o-Wisp unless you replace U-turn. The idea is to get Tailwind up for Mega Garchomp. He really appreciates Tailwind support to help with his lackluster speed.

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Brave Bird/Counter
- Taunt/Whirlwind

Standard Skarmory. I personally enjoy Taunt + Brave Bird, but Taunt + Counter is common (though weak against certain Flying weak pokemon), Brave Bird + Whirlwind is also common. Just don't do Counter + Whirlwind :P

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball/Thunder Wave

Since Tyranitar is taking care of Stealth Rocks, you get to run both Power Whip and Gyro Ball, or, alternatively, can spread Paralysis support with Thunder Wave.

Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Play Rough
- Belly Drum

Belly Drum is technically Azumarill's weakest set...but it's also his best cleaning set for late game, after Mega Garchomp goes down. Jolly max speed gets the drop on pokemon expecting you to be slow. Note that most Rotom-Ws used by weaker players will be slower, while ones used by smarter players will be faster.

Ideally, if you can get your hands on one, Tornadus-Therian would be better than Talonflame for the team. It gets Tailwind + U-turn, as well as having Regenerator to let it set up Tailwind multiple times.

RE: Flaming Flannery's Build a Team Thread!
Thank you so much! :) This really helped!
Edit: For Skarmory I can't get defog unless I get one from another generation where Defog is a TM, or so I read, what would I replace with that?

RE: Flaming Flannery's Build a Team Thread!
It was a HM back in Diamond Pearl and Platinum, but I was under the impression Skarmory was one of those who could be bred with Defog. I was mistaken.

You could replace Skarmory with Scizor then, though it's not quite as good.

Scizor @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant/Impish Nature
-Defog
-Roost
-Bullet Punch
-U-turn/Swords Dance

Scyther can learn Defog as an egg move, so it's a bit easier to get than a Defog Skarmory.

RE: Flaming Flannery's Build a Team Thread!
Thought I'd come by and say thanks again for the help with the team. I have tested it quite a few times and it's been doing great for me. So again thanks! Grin

Also if it's not any trouble would I be able to ask for assistance again? But this time with a team for wi-fi that has Electivire on it. I don't have access to 5g sadly.

RE: Flaming Flannery's Build a Team Thread!
I just noticed that I don't have a great PO team yet and I also just switched laptops and upgraded into Windows 8 so I need a new OU team.

FF, can you make a team with togekiss and greninja? Thanks. Grin
