A Quick XY EV Training Location Guide
A Quick Guide. Super Training actually isn't the best way to EV train in 6th Gen! You also need access to the postgame, or someone willing to trade you some items to do this properly though. I would say Super training is your best bet until then. I'm going to assume you already know the basics about what EVs are and how they work; if you don't there are plenty of other guides in this section that do a better job of explaining them than I could :)

What you need:
  • A Pokemon with Sweet Scent. Venusaur is the best mon. Roselia and Gloom work too
  • Something with a multi-hit move. Surf, Rock Slide, Earthquake ect. Things that can learn Earthquake + Rockslide, or Heat Wave are your best bets as you have things that can hit fliers
  • A Power item in the stat you want to train. Power Weight = HP, Power Bracet = Attack, Power Belt = Defence, Power Lens = Special Attack, Power Band = Special Defence, Power Anklet = Speed
  • Pokerus (optional and rare at this point, but will speed up the process immensely)

The theory:

With Exp. Share turned on, all pokemon in your party gain EVs because they gain experience. Using Sweet Scent in an area with a horde will guarantee a horde encounter. Therefore, you can abuse this and have a pokemon gain quick, easy EVs without ever battling!

The Application:

Turn Exp share on, put a power item/macho brace on your EV trainee pokemon and use sweet scent in the route you want. Beat the pokemon. Repeat!

The Hordes:

Whismur - Connecting Cave
5 HP EVs per battle
EVs gained with Macho Brace: 10
EVs gained with Macho Brace + Pokerus: 20
Evs gained with Power Item: 25
EVs gained with Power Item + Pokerus: 50

Mime Jr. - Reflection Cave
5 Special Defense EVs per battle
EVs gained with Macho Brace: 10

Murkrow - Route 15/16
5 Speed EVs per battle

EVs gained with Macho Brace + Pokerus: 20
Evs gained with Power Item: 25
EVs gained with Power Item + Pokerus: 50

Wingull - Azure Bay
5 Speed EVs per battle
EVs gained with Macho Brace: 10
EVs gained with Macho Brace + Pokerus: 20
Evs gained with Power Item: 25
EVs gained with Power Item + Pokerus: 50

How much quicker?

Assume you're working from a 100 EV starting point: It'll take you 7 hordes to max out your evs from a particular stat with just a power item or 4 with the item + pokerus facing a 5 EV horde, or 6 with the power item and 3 with item + pokerus facing a 10 EV horde. That's about 10 minutes, again assuming a rate of about 1min per battle.

With super training, the max amount of EVs up for grabs is +12, so it'll take you 13 tries of stage 3 to max it out for a particular stat. This isn't influenced by pokerus or the power items. Also, take in mind that the clearance time may fluctuate due to not being fast/strong enough at weaker EV values
