RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - Tama - Oct 21, 2007 9:53 PM

hmm why dont you have like a limit of people to have on this thing? like for the next week only X number of people can join until the last day to sign up. Another good idea is not to make it an obligation for people to battle their partners soon.

for example. you finally have X number of people in the tournie. You organize the brackets so everyone will specifically have a certain person to battle. It will be their responsibility to schedule a battle with their opponent via pming, posting, etc. This way, you wont have to drop people because they will set up their own times to battle with their opponents and such.

alot of people are busy and have crap to do. making the tournament a specific date and time wont get the wanted results. This will make the tournament last for around a period of a month or so.

As for the prize...make it something really worth wile. Like have a grand prize like a poke/item along with having the title "GTS Tournament Champ" on the banner thing (the thing that says if your a mod or trainer, etc). But i think youll have to get avias permission for that @__@. And have other prizes for 2nd, 3rd place.

Not to be negative or anything but to host a tournament you will need a basic plan on how it's going down and a prize that people will want to fight for.

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - Prideless - Oct 21, 2007 10:15 PM

its all for pride aint it? Grin

nah I was thinking of just a normal sig... ill show u an example later.

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - Megaman0 - Oct 21, 2007 10:46 PM

Most people on this board are...Prideless...:P

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - Rikuzaki - Oct 21, 2007 10:55 PM

Lol...

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - dark-sayien-soldier - Oct 22, 2007 5:30 AM

i am in prize or no prize

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - LunaSaint - Oct 22, 2007 12:10 PM

Consider me interested. <_>

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - Tama - Oct 22, 2007 12:44 PM

im in.

Waiting for a response to my idea....

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - LunaSaint - Oct 22, 2007 1:00 PM

Actually, setting a certain time and date allows the tournament to run smoothly and actually finish properly. <_>

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - Tama - Oct 22, 2007 2:09 PM

well alot of people bail (or dont show up)on the last minute and crap. Basically im saying have like a deadline to fight your opponent (like within 2 weeks or something). That way it gives you freedom to battle when you can within that deadline.

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - Prideless - Oct 22, 2007 8:59 PM

Here is an example of what I meant.
Im not going use that template.

I was thinking of hosting this tournament once a month.

The tournament can only commence if there is a total of 20 participating members.

I am thinking of making each match 2 out of 3 instead of straight off elimination.

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - mfbmike - Oct 22, 2007 9:04 PM

I'll join. Are we free to use any assortment of pokemon or need set teams(similar to the teams registered for gts gym league)? Of course, excluding legendaries etc.

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - Prideless - Oct 22, 2007 9:12 PM

Registering seems like a hassle, its more like just follow the rules.

The reason for registering in the gym challenge is so that you dont pull type advantages on one gym then bring another set types to fight another gym.

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - Tama - Oct 22, 2007 9:28 PM

wait a minute....so were gonna have to battle our opponent 3 times in a row? 2 out of 3? so if we have the freedom to choose pokes, then either/or both sides will change pokes so they can gain an advantage. I say just register like 8-10 pokes or something.

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - Prideless - Oct 22, 2007 9:51 PM

Registration seems doesnt seem like its worth it.

If one side changes dont you think the other would do the same? It would counter each others actions. Leave it as is I say. We will see what people say about this maybe we should but as of now I dont think its necessary.

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - mfbmike - Oct 23, 2007 7:52 AM

Registration does seem like a hassle for an event like this. For the gym's, it's obvious why the registration is necessary. Question is, during a best out of 3 match with a particular person, will be able to switch pokes between a match or have to use them for the entire best out of 3?

Hmm, shouldn't tournaments consist of powers of two? I mean, otherwise people will be getting byes and such.

The rest of the rules I like, though. <_>

RE: GTS Tournament of Skill - Prideless - Oct 23, 2007 2:23 PM
