Hey guys,
Sorry if this is in the wrong section... wasn't sure which area this thread belongs in.
Have any of you guys experienced any really disappointing near-misses on Nintendo GTS?
I go online to check the trades about every day, and there are some "too good to be true" offers every once in a while. It seems like, more often than not, I am just a moment too late to get the pokemon of my dreams. Here are some examples:
Offering: Shiny Linoone, Lvl. 100
Wanted: Chingling, Male, Any Level
[Missed: Got a "Blue Screen of Death" citing heavy flow of traffic on GTS, relogged in, Linoone was gone]
Offering: Shiny Arcanine, Lvl. 64
Wanted: Blissey
[Missed: Clicked to trade and got the message "Apparently, it was traded to another trainer]
Offering: Linoone, Lvl. 91
Wanted: Bastiodon, Female, Lvl. 60+
[Missed: Had to take my brother to the swimming pool. Got back 30 minutes later, was gone]
Not to say that all my GTS experiences have been bad. I've gotten a baby Sandshrew for any level, either gender, Starly. I got a great Lvl. 100 Garchomp for my Lvl. 55 Tyranitar. I've also gotten all the starters and their evolutions for the Eevees and Heracrosses I put on offer. But still, can't help but think about the ones that got away...
Any stories that you guys can share? Am I the only one frustrated by GTS?

Well i once saw a shiny steelix up for grabs wanted any level bonsly BUT THE STEELIX WAS ALREADY BEING TREADED!

I. Feel. Your. Pain.
This happens to me ALL the time. Just today, I saw a lvl100 Mewtwo for an any lvl Aipom. You know what I got? Stupid blue screen. And a few days ago, I saw a Mew for a 9 and under Leafeon. Blue-screened.
Or, my favorite, when I don't have the pokemon they want, but it's a really common pokemon that's sooo lame noone should have one handy. It was a lvl47 Palkia, with it's Orb, for a 9 and under Bidoof. I almost had an ulcer.
Most of the time though, people just want lvl100 versions of pokemon I have, but aren't at lvl100 so it doesn't do me any good.

Blackangel,
Sorry to hear that. If I ever get a shiny Steelix, I'll let you have it =). No Bonsly needed, buwhaha.

5K311ing70n,
Yes. Someone who understands! I totally empathize.
I would also get ulcers if any of those things happened to me. But then again, a person trading a Lvl. 100 Legendary for a Bidoof/Leafeon/Aipom might be trading a hack. Likely, but not always the case. I'm just trying to lend you some comfort.
Sigh, I totally feel your pain about the Lvl. 100 thing. Half the time it'll be a baby Lvl. 100. Seriously, who has a Lvl. 100 Magby? Makes me paranoid and want to stock up on Lvl. 100 Pichus, Caterpies, and Slowpokes... Ugh. I know that GTS was designed for our convenience, but the frustration is slowing giving me brain cancer from the sheer anguish...

P.S.
5k311ing70n, mad props for your masterful use of the English language. You had me giggling while reading your post. +1!

Well sometimes i think they do that for the cloning glitch you know make sure there pokemon don't get traded.

Yeah,
I get paranoid and think that too. But in the case of 5k311ing70n, these aren't the brightest cloners. If you want to prevent an accidental trade when you are cloning, wouldn't asking for a Lvl. 9 and under Bibarel be better? What if you do get the Bidoof? Major "Doh!" moment.
I think GTS has been clamping down on trading hacks. I tried to get some suspicious shiny Lvl. 100 Legendaries and GTS just prevented me from trading. No dice.

They actually have a system to prevent trading hacks? Hmm, wonder how it would do that. That might slow down my cash flow(ie. Dialga flow) People seem very willing to trade Dialga's for Pikachu's, although, they're mostly hacks. Of course this is no problem for me, because I'm simply using the Dialga's to trade for other pokemon.

I think that GTS has only added it recently.
I tried to trade for a Lvl. 100 Lugia last night and it just wouldn't let me. It was Lvl. 100 Lugia for any other Lugia, I believe. The GTS kept bouncing me away from the trade. Happened with another Legendary Lvl. 100 trade.
Yeah, I'm not keeping the hacked legendaries. I'd just give them to other trainers who need legendaries for their pokedexes. Where are you finding all these Pikachu-for-Dialga trades? :: Jealous ::

Hmm, very interesting. I would like to know what it is that alerts them of the pokemon being hacked.
Quite interesting indeed.
TheTimelyRain Wrote:Where are you finding all these Pikachu-for-Dialga trades? :: Jealous ::
One day, in my search for a modest Pikachu, I happened to catch a handful of Pikachu's.
"You mean you didn't catch one right away? Lololololol!" No, I didn't.
So instead of simply releasing them all, I just started trading them, gradually asking for more and more ridiculous things. Dialga seems to be the end in that line of ridiculousness. So, I grab a Pikachu, trade for Dialga, then trade the Dialga for something else.
