Hello everyone,

I got a PS3 for a birthday present last year, but as yet, I don't have any PS3 games. I do plan on purchasing "Soul Caliber 4" when it gets released, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for other games for the PS3 console?

To give you a better idea of my gaming preferences, I'll list some details below =).

Likes:
RPGs
Fighting games
Strategy games

Dislikes:
FPSs(First-Person Shooters)
3D-interface
Annoying protagonists

Favorite series:
"Suikoden" series, currently own Suikoden, Suikoden II, Suikoden III, and Suikoden V. Skipped IV for obvious reasons.

Least favorite series:
"Resident Evil" series, not fan of excessive gore, flesh-eating. Gives me the heebie-jeebies.

What do you guys think? What are some games that you've played that you can recommend? PS2 game reviews & recommendations also welcome!

MGS4, GTAIV, Motorstorm and Ratchet and Clank are all good games... I'm not sure about RPGs etc on the PS3 so I can only suggest these ones.
Firs person shooters are great
'
example

Resistance
Resistance 2
Metal Gear Solid 4

But if you don't like it I'll recomend

Soul Caliber 4
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Folklore

I only know RPG's
Cool, thanks for the recommendations, Bonsly and SMED.

I'm not a huge fan of the MGS series, but I might give MGS4 a try.

Hrm, am I the only one who wishes they'd make a "Zelda" game playable on the PS3? Wii/Gamecube got "Twilight Princess". I suppose it's just a Sony vs. Nintendo issue.

They should make like some smaller nintendo title e.g metroid on 360 and a smaller xbox title e.g. Fable/Viva Pinata on wii. And then do the same with PS3.
i would have to say Assassins Creed its kinda RPG not FPS and is good action

Thanks for the recommendation, Aizen-sama. I've seen "Assassins' Creed" at a video-game store and pondered buying it. The reviews for it on Amazon are quite good. Medieval assassinations + beautiful scenery, hmm... I'll have to check it out sometime.

P.S. I suppose I should've specified more clearly the RPG's I'm into.
I'm much more interested in plot and character development than action.
I love the Suikoden series since each game has 108 characters, all of them with their own backstory.

I think I'll probably get "Dynasty Warriors 6". But only once it stops being $60.00.

I'm beginning to think that it's just that the PS3 lacks a good game library, period. I find myself shying away from buying so-so games and loading up the oldies but goodies from the PS1 and PS2.
PS2 games will only work on the 60GB model which is no longer produced so I think you may be stuck with the crap PS3 libarary.

Thanks for the heads up, SMED.

I got the 60GB Piano Black PS3 for my birthday last August. I didn't realize how much I lucked out until just this last month, when I was trying to buy an 80GB system as a college graduation present for a friend. I could easily buy the system, but couldn't find any useful games to give my friend. I'm contemplating just getting a Wii and "Guitar Hero IV" when it releases.

I still think my PS3 was the most cost-effective of all the releases. Too bad it cost $500.00 at the time, which is what? Two Wiis?

You can download the PS2 file system from the playstation store and that lets you download some PS2 games to your PS3 Wink

The File system is hidden in the store..
