Well I know its late in this day and age but I have just picked up the Metal Gear Series. I purchased 2 and 3 and watched the entire gameplay of metal gear solid one with all cinematics and scenes.

I must say the ratio of cinematics/scenes to gameplay is like 3:1 its like watching a hollywood movie at times.

I have yet to play 2 and 3.

I understand the game plays as 3,1,2,4.

I hear their are other metal gear games besides those four that play into the plot. I know their was one for NES and some for PSP probably a few on other consoles as well.

Please do NOT post any spoilers if so please warn ahead of time.

So does anyone have a complete list of all the Metal Gear Games and understand its timeline.

Again please no spoilers for 1,2,3,4. I could careless for the other Metal Gear games however. =)

Yes, that's all correct. I have played all Metal Gear Solid games. I will say you must pay extra special attention to 2, as it is confusing and the worst(not bad) of the series.

MGS1 basically fills you in on all you need to start off with, so the original MG games are unnecessary.

MG Portable Ops for the PSP is a sequel to MGS3, so that comes second in the MGS timeline. It's not 100% necessary, but it's a good game that tells you important things. Although, I suggest you play the games in order they were released.

And make sure to watch after the credits.
