For those of you who don't know, Earthbound is a super-innovative RPG for the Super Nintendo. The hero of the game is Ness, who you may know from Super Smash Bros. The other 3 party members are Paula (The psychic girl), Jeff (the inventor) and Poo (the powerful prince of Dalaam). The villans range from aliens, robots, and other odd creatures, to gang members, cultists obsessed with the color blue, and angry old men. Now, this isn't your typical RPG. There are no castles, or swords, or mystical elves that aid you on your quest. Instead, there are yo-yo's, Frying Pans, Hotels, and status afflictions such as Homesickness and Crying.

Mother is the Japanese-only prequel to Earthbound, and is an NES game. Mother 3 comes after Eartbound, and stars Lucas. Mother 3 is a Gameboy Advance game (also Japanese-only).

Anyways... anyone else an Earthbound fan? Questions, comments, and... uh... anything else?

I hope Earthbound comes to the Virtual Console pretty soon, I was also going to join the Starmen.net PK Tube'N contest, but I had no time, I had to study for finals and the contest had already ended before I had a chance to make something, lol.

The Official Nintendo Magazine even confirmed it was coming to the Virtual Console, it is just a matter of when..

Well, hopefully it comes out soon, 'cause you, me, and about 200,000 other people are sick of waiting.

I actually knew who Ness was when Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64 while millions of other did not. My dad sold Earthbound along with the rest of my SNES games plus the system for a dollar at a garage sale. :'(

The translation is roughly 80% done and started last year.

Hehe.. I completed Mother 3 despite the fact that it was in Japanese... too bad I had no idea what was going on, though.

I never actually owned Earthbound, but my sister's friend's brother did. I watched him play it, and it thought it was cool, simply because he was battling Master Belch. (I was around 7 at the time) alas, if only I still had my SNES. Mine was also sold at a garage sale.

I can't beleive there is hardly any Earthbound fans in this forum, I prefer Earthbound to Pokemon by light-years.

I have never played earthbound but I want to as I love ness and Lucas looks awesome in SSBB.

mother rox my sox ;___; I sooooo wish Nintendo released Mother 3 outside Japan, they could right as they did with Fire Emblem after fans loved Marth and Roy, I know a lot of Smash players loving Lucas and I personally started in my snes with EarthBound some years after it I knew of Mother I the prequel to earthbound, so I looked for a ROM and an emulator just to try it, as of today I finally got my Mother I + II and Mother III and it was hard to play em as my japanese sucks but even tho and with help of some scripts I can assure is one of the most incredible gaming experiences I had
as the japanese ads say "heartrending"
