What is shoddy?:


Shoddy is a diamond and pearl battle simulator for your PC. For those who are slow its basically being able to battle on your PC.

Making a Team:

First of all you will have to open shoddy up. Then click on a server (Most people use official server) and click connect on the right hand side. If you look there is two tabs. Click on the one that says Register and type in your desired name and password. Wait a few seconds and your done.


Now go back to the original tab and type in your name and password. Wait a couple of seconds and you will connect. Occasionally Shoddy will jam and you will not be able to close it, the way to close it is to either log off or use task manager to close it.


Once you have connected to a server. (It should look like this)



Click on file and click on new team. (It should look like this.
)

Select the tab that says Bulbasaur and type in the name of the pokemon you want on your team. It should select it and to the right you should see an image of the pokemon.


Now it is time to choose the EV’s. If you look underneath the name of the pokemon you should see a column of boxes under this 0/510. This means you have used up 0 Evs out of 510. The max per stat is 255 however 252 will give the same effect as 255. Next to it is your Iv’s you don’t want to change these. If you look to the left of these two you can see the pokemon’s stat in that stat. See the difference between 2 Ev's and 252 Ev's.





Now if you look below these you can see the pokemon’s nature which can be changed, its item which can also be changed and its ability which can be changed if the pokemon has more than 1. To change it, click on the box and type in the nature/item and once chosen press enter. If it is a choice item, go to the ev’s and change an ev and then change back to see the stat change.


If you look to the right you can see the moves of the pokemon. If you look to the far left of the name of the move you will see a little box, click this if you want to use this move. If you have chosen Hidden Power then look to the left again, directly under the ev’s/iv’s you will see a little box saying Hidden Power. Click on the box to change the type of HP. Only change it if you are using Hidden Power and wish to change the typeotherwise your iv’s will be changed.


Once you have chosen the pokemon click on the tab at the top of the page. Then repeat this process.



Once you have completed your team, click on the file button in the top left. Then click save and type whatever you wish to call the team. If you want this team to be the default team chosen click on Tools and then use this team. If you want to have the team written out in text so you can post it in a team analysis forum, click tools and then export to text.


If you want to change one of your pokemon once your team is complete but don’t want to have to make the pokemon again from scartch should you ever want to change back, click on tools and then open box. You will have to click new box and give it a name. Then click on Import to import the pokemon you are currently on. The pokemon is now in the box, when you wish to put it on your team click the export button and it will replace whatever pokemon is currently selected. This is what the box should look like.

Challenging other people and using the server.


Ok you’ve now made your team. Save it again and go back to the main menu. At the right of the menu you should see 3 tabs. One saying Users, another saying battles and another saying Find. The one saying Users allows you to challenge other users of shoddy by right clicking their user name and then clicking challenge. You can then choose the conditions of the battle e.g. freeze clause off and item clause on. To the left of that is the team that you are using. If you want to change the team then click the load team button. Challenge to send them the challenge and cancel to cancel. (This is what the challenge menu looks like.


The watch tab allows you to watch other people’s battles.


The find tab allows you to find battles, if you want to change from the default team click on load team. Then choose the team you want to use. The ban list button tells you which pokemon you are not allowed to use in a battle using the find button.


When in the find tab there is a sub-tab. Ladder is just standard OU battles or Uber Battles. Unrated can be OU, Uber, UU or NU.


If you go back to the user’s tab you can right click on other users and click Private Message to send them Private Messages.


If you don’t want other users to challenge you, if you look at the top of the menu and click status and then away, people will not be able to challenge you.

This is what the battleinterface looks like, click the little circle next to a move and then click use, cancel never really works by the way. The tabs allow you to change pokemon and the other one lets you chat with your opponent.

Clauses:

Evasion Clause - Moves that increase evasion don’t work.

Extended Game - Allows the use of Arceus, Micle, Jacoba, Custap and Rowap Berries.

Freeze Clause - A maximum of one pokemon per side can be frozen. Any moves with a chance to freeze will work, but the chance of freeze will be 0.

Item Clause - No item can be held by two pokemon.

Level Balance - No idea.

OHKO Clause - Moves that instantly OHKO such as horn drill will not work.

Random Battle - Players use teams that have been randomly created, with random items, ev’s, iv’s and move sets.

Sleep Clause - Only one pokemon per side may be asleep. Any moves that induce sleep fail.

Species Clause - Each side may not have two of the same pokemon.

Strict Damage Clause - The amount of damage shown will never exceed the amount of HP the opposing pokemon has.

Timed Battle - There’s a time limit.

I have tabs but it kept jamming when I tried to give Willz rep's and wouldn't close so and I was too lazy to use task manager. Moving hurts my brain.

Anyway Hang want to come on shoddy and I can get some more screenshots.
