Rude,
Since you asked for a PS2 game that is either Strategy or RPG-based, I heartily recommend:
Single-player:
-Okami (Clover Studio stopped making it for the PS2, so it'll be harder to find)
-Suikoden III
-Suikoden V (the Suikoden series always feature 108 "main" characters. You have to recruit all of them to get the "good" ending. It's like catching Pokemon, only with people.)
-Final Fantasy XII
-Shadow of the Colossus (a very minimal, but beautifully rendered RPG, kinda short)
Multiplayer:
-Soul Caliber II
-Soul Caliber III
Mindless fun:
-Katamari Damacy
The good thing about the PS3 is that it lowers the prices of PS2 games. I own a PS3 and yet, no PS3 games. I chalk it up to PS3 games costing $60, or around half of a PS2 nowadays.

Even though TheTimelyRain has already said Shadow of the Colossus.
I highly recommend it, it is one of those games you can enjoy for what it is. There is also a number two which is good as well.
If your into peaceful games, but with massive, inventive bosses and environments.
Get Shadow of the Colossus.
I still regret selling my PS2 because I want to play it so much.
=(
On a side note SSX3 is very good.
