I'm planning my first "EV" trained team here. I like my team, so please, even if it is not the best of choices, don't suggest a Pokemon change. I'd like help in EV's, movesets, positions and natures. I currently have most of these guys and am in the process of making eggs. So, shoot away ^^.
Arcanine
Mightyena
Arggon
Jolteon
Tropius
Zangoose
Well, looking at this team I can say that Sunny day will help you alot with most of these guys, heres some ideas
Alright, Arcainne is an awesome fire pokemon with decent stats and an awesome movepool. You want a Jolly nature with him EV trained in speed and special attack. Your final moveset should look something like
Dragon pulse
Heat wave
Solarbeam
Sunny day
Also, make him hold a choice scarf, or a berry that lowers the damge of a ground based attack cause chances are when they see this guy come out they are going to want to earthquake him
Ok, Mightyena gonna be kind of difficult to use because he's one of those weird stated UU guys. The best nature I can see out of this is an adament/impish nature EV trained in attack and defence. His base speed is 70 which means you wont be outrunning much of anything unfortunatly so better just throw it into defence. Also his movepool is somewhat limited to mostly dark and normal types. So Id suggest getting heart scales and getting the touter to teach him ice fang and fire fang. Final moveset should be
Sucker punch
Swagger/taunt/Sunny day
Fire fang
Ice Fang
And make him hold the quick claw or something like that. Throw this guy out when someone has an alakazam out or a gengar or some other fast low defence ghost/psy guy. Chances are they will mostlikly switch out to another guy expecting a suckerpunch, which is your chance to get your buff move off.
Whoo, another guy to benifit from sunny day! Sunny day increases Aggrons steel defence a tad which is awesome. I'd say go for an adament nature or an impish nature EV training in both attack and defence. Final Moveset should look like
Iron head
Stealth rock
Stone edge
Earthquake
I'd say give him an expert belt or the berry that decreases the supper effectiveness to fighting moves
Ok, Jolteon is another hugely underestimated UU pokemon. The only drawback to this guy is his limited movepool. Give it a timid nature and make it the quickest little sucker you've ever seen, weaviles wont even see it coming. Ev train it in special attack and speed. your final moveset should look like
Thunderbolt
Shadowball
Fake tears (incase someone throws out something with really high special defence)
Charm(most likely, you'll be attacking first. This really REALLY messes with normal attack sweepers which is your weakness)
Make it hold something that boosts electric attacks, zap plate, magnet, ect
Whoo! Another UU pokemon, and it can benifit from sunny day as well. Make sure it has chlorophyl ability to make its speed double in sunlight. Give it a timid nature and EV train it in speed and special attack. Your final movepool should look like
Air Slash
Solarbeam
Sunny day
Silver wind/leafstorm
Held item should be something that boosts grass type moves or the berry that removes any decreasing staus effect on your guy, allowing you to use leafstorm once without any penalty at all
Zangoose in itelf is kind of a beast, however, its like the normal version of weavile with less speed. Chances are if it doesnt one-shot what its fighting, its gonna get oneshotted. Give it a Jolly nature since it cant learn any real decent priority attacks, sweeping is its only choice. EV train in speed and attack. Final moveset should look like
Rockclimb
closecombat
X-scissor
Shadow claw/nightslash
Make him hold the expert belt or focus sash to make sure he doesnt get oneshotted by quick moving guys like weavile
Well those are my ideas, enjoy
Arcanine: Arcanine is good for a fire type, he has good attack and decent special attack. You can run him all physical, or my personal preferance is the Specsmence style set which is:
Arcanine @ Choice Specs
Modest/Timid Nature
~Overheat
~Flamethrower
~Dragon Pulse
~HP Grass/Extreme Speed
EV's: 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Mightyena: he wont last to well in tough spot, so you have the option of using him only vs. psychics, or you can make him your lead, and hope that this set is suprising enough for a major battle.. Moveset:
Mightyena @ Toxic Orb
ABILITY: Quick Feet
Adamant Nature
~Howl
~Crunch
~Me First
~Facade
EV's: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Aggron: He has a very high defense, but you need to be careful who you send him out on. All i have to say really, moveset:
Aggron @ Leftovers
Adamant Nature
~Substitute
~Focus Punch
~Rock Slide
~Thunder Wave
EV's: 168 HP, 252 Attack, 88 Speed
Jolteon: I don't know where Blazin_Bird got his information, but Jolteon is in the OU tier, and is pretty well thought of... Anyways, he works best as a baton passer. Moveset sir:
Jolteon @ Leftovers
Timid/Modest Nature
~Baton Pass
~HP ICE/HP GRASS
~Substitute
~Thunderbolt (power)/ Charge beam (could get a Sp.A. boost to pass with baton pass)
EV's: 252 Speed, 252 Special Attack, 4 HP
Tropius: Very UU but not potentially bad. I was worried you weren't gonna have any special attackers >.> You can specs or life orb him. Moveset...
Tropius @ Choice Specs/Life Orb
Modest Nature
~Leaf Storm
~Energy Ball
~Air Slash
~HP Fire
EV's: 252 Special attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Zangoose: I love me some zangoose. MOVESET!!!
Zangoose @ Silk Scarf
Jolly
~Return
~Close Combat
~Swords Dance
~Shadow Claw/Fire Punch
EV's: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
i would go with Zenrot except I would go physical with arcanine.
6, HP, 252 Atk, 252, Spd
Jolly = Choice Band/Life Orb
Adamant = Choice Scarf/Life Orb
Moveset:
Flare Blitz/Fire Fang if you don't like recoil
Crunch
Extremespeed
Thunder Fang
@Blazin_Bird: Sunny Day does not increase Aggron's Defenses it's Sandstorm.
I thought I heard that sunny day increases the defence of steel types
I know sandstorm raises rock type special defense, but idk if anything affects steels especially. It would make sense if it was sandstorm though.
