Ok I'm not much of a hardcore gamer but I'm confused about FF i mean there are just so many of them and they seem to be releasing remakes and ex japanese exclusives etc all the time so i was just wondering which is the best and which would be a good one to start off with and is the movie any good?
There are lots of movies. Mabye start with Final Fantasy III on the DS, to see if FF is to your style, then move on to FFXII and stuff for the PS2.

FFVII (which is where the character Cloud is from) is for the PSX/PS1, so you probably won't get to play that until they get a remake. (FFVII is considered one of the best, if not, the best one ^^)

The movie FF:Advent Children is based on FFVII, so it'll be harder to understamd unless you know what FFVII is...
What about the famous film which is done in computer game graphics i think it actually got released in cinemas Are there any plans of a FF on ps3 i think the graphics would be awesome is FF III one of the best? I'd quite like to play some rpg's i have only ever played pokemona nd zelda if that even counts as one
Which is best can't be answered. You'll have to find the Best one for you on your own.

The "Famous Film" is Advent Children, you wont understand it till you play FF7
While I can't comment on Advent Children (I honestly never understood the fanboyism over FF VII), I can warn you to stay away from "The Spirits Within". It is honestly one of the worst movies ever made.

As far as FF games go, recommendations go by system. Personally, for PSX/PS2, I'd recommend FFIX for the PSX and FFX for the PS2 (I can't recommend XII because I've never played it).
being a FF EXTREME fanatic a great ff game to start on is ff 7
its been highly praised my many (including me), and its the first ff game to have 3-D graphics so it may not look too pretty but the game play is smooth and the story line is great

for a more serious ff game pick up ff 8, this game is really deep and has a great love story tied to it (plus everyone in the game is good looking ^.~) this ff has a different style of magic that is easy to pick up, but i wont say how coz i dont want to give it away

ff 9 is more whimsical and has the best soundtrack there is, plus the man character has a monkey tail...need i say more?

it doesnt matter what order you go in playing them, but if u choose on of these three youll be sucked in like i was ^^;
Unlike Ronin, I would advise against 7 and 8 for now, just try 3, and see if you like it. If you don't like FF3, then you probably won't like the others. I chose three, as it is the most recent remake and is easily aquired as it has recently been released on the DS. The only way to play FF7 is on the PC (which had hideous controls and was annoying) or on the PSX or PS1, which you may not have. Just go with FF3, and see how it goes.
I have FFX at the moment... I do recommend it.
