I'm not sure what you're asking when you ask how many pixels you need to "make it HD". 1080i means 1080 interlanced, 1080p means 1080 progressive scan. 1080i/p is at a resolution of 1920x1080, meaning 1920 pixels horizontally and 1080 pixels vertically (standard 16:9 widescreen). Most monitors/TVs that have 720p support will usually support 1080i, but not always-- 1080p supports 720i/p and 1080i/p.

when i looked at a moniter at dell it said 1960x720 i wanna which resolutions r 1080i 720p etc

Like I said, 1080i/p's resolution is 1920x1080 and 720i/p's resolution is 1280x720. I don't know what 1960x720 would be, I assume a downgraded 1080p.
