I'm really stuck deciding on how to EV train my Togekiss (well a Togepi ATM).
Her IVs are excellent - took ages to breed:
Nature: Calm
HP - 28
Atk - 19
Sp. Atk - 30
Def - 22
Sp. Def - 30
Speed - 31
I'm thinking of a dedicated special sweeper, instead of the Flinch-hax type, which seems the standard from what I've faced.
Nasty Plot
Flamethrower
Aura Sphere
Air slash
All I've though about so far is speed. Some calculations I've run are:
96 Evs would outspeed max speed non-timid Magnezone
104 outspeeds max speed Adamant Tyranitar
136 outsppeds Smogon standard Breloom (212 EVs)
196 EVs will mean I can reach a speed of 245. Outspeeding Jolly Tyranitars, max speed Brelooms, and Choice band, adamant Heracross.
I'm stumped otherwise though. Can Togekiss even work as a pure sweeper? Or does she need Thunderwave and/or Roost for survivability? My team as wish support from Jirachi but no paralysis.
Basically give me any advice you can please.
Togekiss
Calm - Serene Grace
Leftovers
Nasty Plot
Air Slash
Baton Pass
Aura Sphere / Wish
252hp/240def/16spdef
Comment: Personally, i would go with this set as Togekiss is a member of a very small group of Pokemon that can actually learn the rare nastly plot as well as Baton pass it (do i hear Porygon-z anyone). Combine this with good all around stats and the movepool to make use of them, and your looking at a pretty decent support pokemon. The idea behind this set goes something like this: Nasty Plot and Baton Pass out, Air Slashing whenever you feel you'd rather do damage immediately, which is always a must on any set of Togekiss. The last slot requires you to make a decision, do you want to increase Togekiss's durability and at the same time let Togekiss to be able to be even more of an asset to the team in the form of 50% healing (he can baton pass wish!!), then choose Wish. But if you would like to be more of a sweeper and finish off high speed pokemon for the revenge kill then go with Aura Spere. But, as you have already said, if you would rather have togekiss as a dedicated special sweeper, then flamethrower and grass-knot are perfectly viable options as well as tri-attack. Out of those though i would strongly recommend flamethrower, as it is super effective against steel (which resists both your stab attacks) and is the only attack in Togekiss's moverpool which Zapados does not resist outright. Too bad your hidden power 69 poison is useless...
One last reccomendation is that you enter my breeding project with such a good pokemon.
Hope i helped

well with that nature its speed is not too sure to get that high so if i were u id stick to just training it in defense and special attack
Thanks guys. I've taken another look over Togekiss's movepool, and there's some great support moves there.
For now though, I've decided to use 104 spd; 56 def; 200 HP; 144 spA.
I'll see how it goes and then either fine tune it, or just start over with the set you mentioned Sulla.
just curious, what are you planning to outrun with those speed evs? Whenever i use togekiss i always run the paraflinchhax set so i never worry about speed since my opponent will most likely be going last anyway due to para.
Mainly Magnezone, who my team has a few problems with. But from there it's only an extra 8 Evs to outspeed Tyranitar, so I thought why not? All this is assuming I've done my calculations right, which is definitely not guaranteed.
I don't plan on using thunderwave, as if I decided to give up an attack it'll probably be for Roost. I am thinking of adding it to my team somewhere though, as it will also aid my Gallade. I've never really had any troubles with him though. In fact he's probably my most consistent performer.
Out of curiosity, have you ever tried a Choice Specs Togekiss?
Ok, so magnezone and admant tyranitar are the foes to outspeed, makes sense.
Also i have tries choice specs kiss but not succesfully. Thats not to say theres anything wrong with it, i was just unlucky in who i faced.
I ran:
Modest/Calm
Serene Grace
Choice Specs
Flamethrower
Aura Sphere / Grass Knot
Air Slash
Tri Attack
6hp/252Sat/252Spd
Okay, thanks. I'm probably not gonna try the choice specs set - seems a bit of an insult to all the status and support moves available. Plus I can't get Tri-Attack.
Well, after playing a few games, I think I am going to scrap the sweeper moveset.
It worked a treat a few times. Especially when a friend sent in Magnezone, and my Jirachi U-turned away. Flamethrower with Life Orb was easily a OHKO.
However, as the only real special sweeper in my team, she didn't really work well enough.
Instead I've decided to go with Thunderwave/ Roost/ Fire blast/ Air slash, with either Leftovers or Shell bell. 252 HP; 192 SpD; 64 Def.
